1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Cancel Subscriptions (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.

These Terms apply to all users of the Service, including free and premium subscribers.

2. Description of Service

Cancel Subscriptions is a subscription tracking and management platform that helps users:

  • Connect bank accounts securely via Plaid to analyze transaction history
  • Automatically detect recurring subscription charges
  • Track subscription renewal dates and costs
  • Receive alerts before subscriptions renew
  • Access tools and resources to cancel unwanted subscriptions

Important: We provide tools to help you cancel subscriptions, but we do not guarantee successful cancellation of any service. Cancellation policies are determined by individual subscription providers.

3. Account Registration and Security

3.1 Account Creation

To use the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information
  • Maintain and update your information as needed
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have legal capacity to enter into binding contracts

3.2 Account Security

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • All activities that occur under your account
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access
  • Using a strong, unique password

4. Subscription Plans and Billing

4.1 Free Plan

Our free plan includes basic subscription tracking features. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the free plan at any time.

4.2 Premium Plans

Premium plans provide additional features and benefits. By subscribing to a premium plan, you agree to:

  • Pay the subscription fee shown at time of purchase
  • Automatic recurring billing on the renewal date
  • Charges will be billed to your payment method on file
  • Prices may change with 30 days' notice

4.3 Cancellation and Refunds

  • Cancellation: You may cancel your premium subscription at any time through your account settings
  • Effect: Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period
  • Refunds: We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee for first-time premium subscribers. After 7 days, no refunds will be issued for partial months
  • Access: Upon cancellation, you will retain access to premium features until the end of your paid period

5. Bank Account Connection via Plaid

5.1 Authorization

By connecting your bank account, you authorize us to:

  • Access your transaction history through Plaid
  • Analyze transactions to detect recurring subscriptions
  • Store transaction data securely for subscription tracking

5.2 Read-Only Access

Our access to your financial data is read-only. We cannot:

  • Move money or initiate transactions
  • Change your account settings
  • Access your banking credentials (handled by Plaid)

5.3 Disconnection

You may disconnect your bank account at any time through your account settings. This will stop transaction syncing but will retain existing subscription data.

6. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use the Service only for lawful purposes
  • Not misuse, interfere with, or attempt to access unauthorized areas of the Service
  • Not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
  • Verify the accuracy of detected subscriptions (our AI may not be 100% accurate)
  • Confirm cancellation directly with subscription providers when possible
  • Not share your account with others
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, including all content, features, and functionality, is owned by Cancel Subscriptions and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may not:

  • Copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service
  • Use our trademarks, logos, or branding without written permission
  • Remove or alter any copyright or proprietary notices

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
  • All subscriptions will be detected accurately
  • Cancellation attempts will be successful
  • Transaction data from Plaid will always be complete or timely
  • The Service will meet your specific requirements

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CANCEL SUBSCRIPTIONS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, revenue, data, or use
  • Failed or delayed cancellations of subscriptions
  • Charges from subscription services that were not successfully cancelled
  • Errors in subscription detection or tracking
  • Issues arising from third-party services (Plaid, payment providers, etc.)

For Paid Users: Our total liability to you for all claims shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to the claim.

For Free Users: The Service is provided "as-is" with no warranty. We shall have no liability for any damages or losses arising from your use of the free tier.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Cancel Subscriptions, its affiliates, and service providers from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights
  • Your account credentials being compromised due to your negligence

11. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party providers (Plaid, Clerk, Stripe, etc.). Your use of these services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the actions or policies of third-party services.

Subscription cancellation requires interaction with third-party subscription providers. We do not control their cancellation processes or policies.

12. Termination

12.1 By You

You may terminate your account at any time by deleting it in your account settings.

12.2 By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account if:

  • You violate these Terms
  • Your account is inactive for more than 12 months
  • We suspect fraudulent or illegal activity
  • Required by law or court order
  • We discontinue the Service (with 30 days' notice)

12.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your access to the Service will cease immediately. Your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Outstanding fees remain due.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by:

  • Posting the updated Terms with a new "Last updated" date
  • Sending an email notification
  • Displaying a notice in the Service

Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the Service and may terminate your account.

14. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of [Your State/Country], without regard to conflict of law principles.

14.1 Informal Resolution

Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us to attempt informal resolution by emailing support@cancelsubscriptions.io.

14.2 Arbitration

Any disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration rather than in court, except where prohibited by law. You waive your right to a jury trial.

14.3 Class Action Waiver

You agree to resolve disputes individually and waive the right to participate in class actions or class arbitrations.

15. General Provisions

  • Entire Agreement: These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Cancel Subscriptions
  • Severability: If any provision is found invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect
  • No Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right does not waive that right
  • Assignment: You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them to affiliates or successors
  • Force Majeure: We are not liable for delays or failures due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control
